Ecomedia Kids Project
Ecomedia Kids is an educational initiative that brings together environmental learning and media literacy. Designed for children aged 5–10, this interdisciplinary project integrates environmental awareness, media literacy, and ecomedia into applied practices within forest school settings.
Working within a forest school program, it combines nature-based experiences with early critical thinking skills, enabling children to explore local environments through hands-on activities while reflecting on how environmental issues are represented in the media. Children are introduced to age-appropriate discussion about climate change, misinformation, and greenwashing, helping them recognise that information can be presented in different ways and with varying levels of accuracy.

A key focus of the project is helping children understand the hidden environmental impact of everyday technologies such as smartphones and tablets. Through interactive and practical activities, including examining and discussing disassembled devices, they learn about materials, production, energy use, and electronic waste. This supports a more holistic understanding of how media and technology are connected to broader ecological systems. By combining Forest School practise with environmental and media literacy, the project supports children in developing curiosity, critical thinking, and a sense of agency.
